What Did Smart Money Do In the 1929 Crash and Aftermath?

During the same bear market period smart-money moved from the plunging equity markets (i.e. financial assets) to hard asset investments, like Homestake Mining - which is used heretofore as a surrogate for all gold stocks. The stock price of this gold mining company soared relentlessly upward during the entire bear market. Homestake Mining stock rose continuously from $80 in October 1929 to $495 per share in December 1935 - which represents a total return of 519% (excluding cash dividends) during the devastating bear market period.Contemplate and appreciate the monumental difference in investment returns during a serious bear market. Smart-money invested $10,000 in Homestake Mining (hard assets) in late 1929 - which increased in value to almost $62,000 by December 1935. This represents a compound rate of return of 35% per year in appreciation alone! It is meaningful to note that in late 1929 the value of Homestake Mining was about $80 per share. Moreover, during the next six years Homestake Mining paid out a total of $128 in cash dividends. In fact the 1935 dividend alone reached $56 per share. That's almost a 70% dividend yield payout (basis 1929) in only one year! Indeed, hard asset investments (gold mining shares) were islands of economic refuge during the grueling years of the Great Depression.Unfortunately, those innocent souls who remained invested in stocks - and had a buy and hold strategy - saw their initial $10,000 investment slowly dwindle to only $3,600 by late 1935. This represented a devastating capital loss of almost two-thirds of their investment savings. T H A T'S R I G H T! The hapless naive investor with a buy and hold strategy in financial assets lost the greater part of his original stake. Pathetically, he could ill-afford to risk - let alone lose - his precious capital during the many long despairing years of the Great Depression.

Fear is a stronger emotion than greed. ... Eventually fear takes over logic, as they become extremely worried about the extent of their losses and, therefore, sell at the lowest possible levels. The moral of this story is: do not allow your logical mind to be overridden by emotions, be it greed or fear.

Been away on holidays but back early before they quarantine this old guy. Don't bet on lower prices yet, the bottom could be here.

The stock has NOT pierced below the cloud on the weekly chart, so the bullish trend is still alive. Also notice the up trend of higher lows, last September, December and Friday. Short term indicators are over sold. The chart could turn bearish, but no sell signal as of yet.

FLYNN
DON'T SAY ANYTHING IN THE FUTURE.
Stay away from this Zonte site .

If you have held this stock for 5 to 10 years , your cost base was below 10 cents per share and this was probably your biggest percentage win in the last decade .
Now , your best stock is gone and you hold a basket of losing stocks .

Over the last few years , the Zonte stock price performed well while many junior mining companies are either no longer trading or are trading around 5 to 10 cents , have very little cash in the treasury and need to raise money in a market environment that is not kind to junior mining companies, have hundreds of millions of shares outstanding and lastly have minimal property development potential .

Terry Christopher had one property when you first invested in Zonte . Terry has successfully put together a portfolio of four large scale potential resource properties .

This has also probably been your most profitable stock and here's to wishing that you sold your entire position as you portray in your recent post.

Hoping we don't have to read your posts again .
Trusting that you sold your entire Zonte position and have no shares left .

As well , you will never be able to buy any Zonte shares in the teens again .

When you least expect it , Zonte Metals will issue the major discovery Cross Hills ( Dunns Mountain ) Press Release that everybody is expecting from Terry Christopher .
In addition , over time there will be impressive Columbian and Yukon Press Releases .

Zonte Metals has the working capital to drill at Cross Hills throughout 2020.
Cross Hills is a large regional structure with IOCG style mineralization .
With the preliminary completed exploration work done at Cross Hills ,
there are already many known targets to test .
According to the website , zontemetals.com , there are over 123 square kilometres.

We all know that Terry Christopher will make a few significant discoveries at Cross Hills in 2020 !!
