With PDAC in full swing, this marks the anniversary date of when we started Save Canadian Mining.

This time last year, I just didn’t see a reasonable way to ask investors for money. The odds against a return under the current rules are long.

But I knew about this short selling problem. Honestly I didn’t realize it was as bad as it really is but I knew it was bad and something had to be done.

I bought SaveCanadianMining.com and now thanks to the help of my fellow founders Eric Sprott, Osisko, Rob McEwen, 6ix, Pendry Cannon, Stosic & Associates and these junior mining firms we are making a difference.

As a grass roots volunteer organization we simply don’t have the resources to lobby all provincial governments and regulators at the same time. They, through the security commissions and agencies in each province, run IIROC who made the decision to remove the Tick Test. Our plan given scarce resources was to focus on Ontario.

If we can’t convince Ontario’s government of the benefits of removing the rule we will not succeed. Conversely if we do we have a very good chance of succeeding with the other provinces.

How are we doing?

Key decision makers like the Ontario Mining Association and the Ontario Prospector Association are engaged and supporting the initiative. The TMX group is supporting Save Canadian Mining. We have had several very positive meetings with the Ford Government in Ontario at a ministerial level. They now understand the problem. They didn’t create it but they want to help fix it.

The research we developed with Murenbeeld (see link) presents a stark reason why we should all fight for a reinstatement of the Tick Test as a big start to helping to Save Canadian Mining.

Some people will say the tick test isn’t a big deal, shorting isn’t a problem.

To those people I say: You're wrong. Investing legend Leon Cooperman called for the very same approach on Sunday night.

Read the research. Since that change the stock prices of junior mining have been crushed by over 65%. Yet in same time commodities are off 7%.

Stocks would almost have to triple to get back to historical norms.

That’s why this is worth us all helping.
