This was in Calgary paper on the 23rd, they say 43 producers. I think there could be confusion between licensed sellers and growers, not all growers have sales license.

But I like these comments in the article

calgaryherald.com/storyline/albertas-sec...ture-for-tiny-hamlet

Dixon isn’t concerned. The company owns more land near Peers than is used by Canada’s other 43 licensed cannabis producers, and business is booming, especially with the prospect of legalized recreational sales next year.

“There’s a real shortage of medical cannabis in the marketplace. It looks like it will take a few years for the industry to catch up,” he says, adding consistency is one of the keys to success.

“That’s important for the recreational market as well. They find something that’s just their favourite … you better have it the next time.”

I was checking out the Green Relief web site, quite interesting. I seen this announcement there and was surprised there is 30 licensed growers now in Canada to sell Pot

OTTAWA, April 6, 2016 – The Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA) has announced that two new members have joined the Association. Green Relief Inc., based in Flamborough, Ontario, and Supreme Pharmaceuticals Inc., with a head office in Toronto and a seven acre hybrid greenhouse in Kincardine, Ontario, are licensed to produce medical cannabis under Health Canada’s Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR).

Green Relief is Canada’s first commercial aquaponics production facility, and Supreme operates the first hybridized, modular greenhouse in Canada. Both are committed to furthering the sustainability of cannabis production to protect the environment and use natural resources responsibly.

With the addition of the two new members, CMCIA now comprises 17 of the 24 companies that currently hold the 30 Health Canada licenses to cultivate and sell medical cannabis.

Check Friday's press release, the Master Grower from Canopy Growth is also joining CBW

2017-05-19 12:26 ET - News Release

Mr. Chuck Rifici reports

CANNABIS WHEATON APPOINTS INDUSTRY LEADING MASTER GROWER

Cannabis Wheaton Income Corp. has appointed Kevin Furet to the position of chief cultivation and genetics officer. Mr. Furet will begin his duties at Cannabis Wheaton effective Sept. 1, 2017, in order to comply with certain pre-existing contractual obligations.

Until May, 2017, Mr. Furet served as the master grower for Canopy Growth Corp., and he brings more than 17 years of production technique, plant breeding and strain development experience to his new role with Cannabis Wheaton. At Canopy Growth, he oversaw cultivation for Tweed, Tweed Farms and Mettrum. While with Tweed, he also served as its first master breeder, where he led a team of researchers in the creation of its cannabis breeding facility, the first of its kind in Canada and the foundation for Tweed's Canadian-bred genetics. Prior to this, Mr. Furet founded several successful operations, including Indoor Garden Solutions.

Mr. Furet is an important addition to Cannabis Wheaton's management team, which comprises industry first-movers and leaders, with a depth of knowledge in all areas of the cannabis industry, including construction of world-class facilities, best-in-class cultivation practices and associated new technologies, retail distribution, branding identity creation, capital markets, and regulatory expertise, all of which are dedicated to creating value for Cannabis Wheaton's streaming partners and the cannabis industry as a whole.

In his role at Cannabis Wheaton, Mr. Furet will be working with the company's partners to provide solutions for optimizing top-quality growth and yields, as well as consulting on the daily issues that affect licensed producers, including bringing his expertise on breeding and genetics.

Mr. Furet stated: "I've always believed that this industry values quality and innovation, and I've had the opportunity to work alongside the best breeders and growers, who like me are devoted to the art and the science of our industry. I've dedicated my career to ensuring that Canadians have access to safe, high-quality cannabis. This represents an opportunity for me to share my knowledge right across Cannabis Wheaton's national platform."

Chuck Rifici, chief executive officer of Cannabis Wheaton, noted: "We couldn't be more pleased that Kevin shared our vision and that we are able to include a master grower of Kevin's calibre as part of our turnkey platform solution for our partners. Kevin's award-winning growing techniques and breeding methods will provide an excellent sounding board for consultation and implementation of new ideas alongside our diverse set of partners. The help and support and new ideas that come from the best people working together will no doubt ensure that CW and its partners continue to be synonymous with leading-edge and top-tier production in the industry."

I know where that company Green Relief is and not that far away, see if I can get a chance to check it out, never know if I might know somebody there.

Dam shorts, seems they are messing everywhere these days

This looks like a great business model and I think their timing is right to do this now as the number of producers are growing

This looks quite interesting and a good idea. I bought a position. If they can do half as good as a Franco Nevada it will be a huge winner.
